Summer, the best season of the year is coming up. As someone who is obsessed with bikinis and patiently waits for tanning weather, this time of year is exciting, even if your spending it in your backyard instead of your friend’s cottage. If you’re struggling to figure out what bikini style is most flattering on you, you’re not alone. I am the pickiest person when it comes to buying bikinis. However, these styles that are trending right now can help you choose just by visualizing it on yourself.
Brazilian Bikini Bottom
A Brazilian bottom style is originated in Brazil, which also can be inferred to a “Brazilian” wax, which covers a small portion of the private. Most Brazilian bottoms are cheeky and are a little wider than a thong.
If you feel uncomfortable with showing this much skin, some types are less cheeky, but harder to find. This bikini typically is designed with the scrunch at the top and high-waisted tied sides.
Tied Bikini Top
This tied bikini top is trending most likely from the influence of Emily Ratajkowski, who launched her new line ‘Inamorata’ that features tops with this style. This top is flattering because it has an adjustable triangle bust, where you can tighten the strings to boost your cleavage.
At the same time, it wraps your skin underneath the bust to give a skinnier illusion. The downsides to this top are getting bad tan lines, but you can easily just untie them when you want to tan.
V Cut Bottom
These bottoms are self-explanatory by the title. A V shape that almost traces your “v” lines which brings emphasis to your groan area that gives a very flattering look. This is the best basic swim style that can go with any bikini top, (if you buy a basic colour like black) or if you buy a matching set.
Wear to swim and tan and you won’t have to worry about the chances of it getting untied.
Multi-purpose Top
The beautiful ruffled and ribbed material is very flattering. ‘437’ carries this top in pastel colours that look amazing on any body type. Hannah Brown and Addison Rae were seen wearing one of these suits, so you can trust this brand is of high quality. It’s a little on the expensive side but it’s worth it as you can wear it multiple ways. It’s basically owning 9 bathing suit tops for the value of one.
High Waisted Bottom
This look has its pros and cons but works well especially if you want to hide your stomach or look fashionable. Some people may not favour this look because of unwanted tan lines or because it deviates from the traditional bikini. Or, it could be simply too tight on the tummy. However, according to Danielle Bernstein, founder and creator of ‘WeWoreWhat’ has designed plenty of fitting high waisted bikinis, and stated in an interview,
“Find a suit that’s not too tight and hugs the right places. Making suits flattering was most important to me. I usually size up in all of my bathing suits because when they are too tight it can squeeze the wrong areas. I also sometimes break the seams to create a looser fit.”
I’m obsessed with these current trends. These styles would flatter any body type, you just have to pick the right size that flatters you the best. Take your time to pick the right bikini because you deserve to look and feel your best self when you’re tanning by the pool, or popping up on people’s Instagram feeds.
